Bayside High Alumnus Chris Carey Honored for Combat Role, Promoted to Air Force Staff Sergeant

PALM BAY, FL – U.S. Air Force Airman Chris Carey, a 2019 graduate of Bayside High School who embarked on a path of dedicated military service, was recently honored for his vital contributions during challenging combat operations and has also earned the achievement of being promoted to Staff Sergeant (SSgt).
Serving with the esteemed 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (SJAFB), SSgt Carey was recognized alongside fellow Airmen during a moving formal ceremony, recognizing their skillful and courageous actions in the face of danger while deployed in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility on April 12-13 of 2024. These high-stakes operations were critical to regional stability and overall mission success for U.S. forces.
Colonel Morgan Lohse, the 4th Fighter Wing Commander, highlighted the strategic significance of their efforts during the ceremony, describing their vital role: "Their accomplishments emphasize the importance of air superiority—a capability essential for protecting interests and allies—and were a big step towards restoring US deterrence of Iran." This underscores the direct impact of their service on key national security objectives.
