Emerson Drive Utility Work to Trigger Lane Shifts Through January 26

FPL and Pike Construction begin utility infrastructure upgrades between Dallam and Glendale.

Palm Bay, FL – The City of Palm Bay has issued a traffic advisory for Emerson Drive NW due to scheduled utility construction. The work, performed by Pike Construction on behalf of Florida Power & Light (FPL), involves a segment of the roadway that serves as a primary connector for the Northwest sector.

The construction is scheduled to take place on January 23 and January 26, 2026. According to the city notification, the work will be restricted to the hours of 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. While the official press release included a clerical error regarding the year, the schedule is confirmed for the upcoming Friday and Monday dates.

Utility crews will utilize channelizing devices for lane detours and shifts. The project follows “Flagging Index 102-603,” which indicates a two-lane, two-way flagging operation. Under this standard, flaggers will be present to alternate traffic flow through the work zone, which may result in temporary delays for motorists.
