Experience the Magic: 17th Annual Family Christmas Extravaganza Returns

It started as a humble gathering in 2009. Now, it is the Space Coast’s largest free holiday tradition. Here is why 25,000 neighbors are heading to Fred Poppe Park.

Palm Bay, FL – On Saturday, December 20, 2025, Fred Poppe Regional Park will transform into the epicenter of holiday spirit on the Space Coast. The 17th Annual Family Christmas Extravaganza is back, and it promises to be bigger, louder, and more festive than ever.

For nearly two decades, this event has served as a unifying moment for our city. What began as a collaborative idea has exploded into a massive community engine driven by The House Church, the City of Palm Bay, and over 60 local partners.

The message for 2025 is clear: Come for the fun, stay for the tradition, and leave your wallet at home.

A “Wallet-Free” Wonderland

In a season often defined by spending, the Extravaganza offers a refreshing counter-narrative. The event’s “completely free” policy is not a marketing gimmick; it is a core operational rule.

From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, everything on the grounds is accessible at no cost. Families can enjoy inflatables, face painting, rock walls, and pony rides without buying tickets.

For 2025, organizers have leveled up the experience with a massive new addition: A full-sized Ferris Wheel. Like the popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs, a ride on the wheel is completely free.

High Stakes and Community Generosity

While the rides provide the thrills, the stage provides the drama. The “Extravaganza’s Got Talent” competition has evolved into one of the city’s premier showcases for local performers.

The stakes are high this year. The total prize pool stands at $3,000, with the first-place winner taking home $1,500. It is a celebration of Palm Bay’s creativity, giving local singers, dancers, and artists a platform to shine.

But the winning isn’t limited to the stage. The event has a long history of community “giveaways.” In previous years, organizers have distributed raffle prizes ranging from toys and bikes to flat-screen TVs, maintaining a tradition of giving back to the attendees. Even in years where weather challenged the event, the commitment to these community gifts remained a priority.

Roots of the Tradition

To understand the scale of this event, you have to look back at its history. The Extravaganza traces its roots to 2009. In those early years, it was a modest effort to bring the community together.

By 2018, it had become an institution. That year marked the 10th anniversary, a milestone officially recognized by the City of Palm Bay with a proclamation designating “Family Christmas Extravaganza Day.” That same year featured national recording artist Bekaah Shae, signaling the event’s transition from a local gathering to a regional draw.

Today, it attracts over 25,000 attendees annually. It has survived logistical shifts and location changes, finding a permanent and expansive home at Fred Poppe Regional Park.
