Moya's three-decade journey in law enforcement is a testament to his unwavering dedication and leadership. His tenure as Palm Bay's Chief was marked by a commitment to building strong relationships between the police and the community. He also championed the use of technology and data-driven approaches to enhance public safety.

In 2022, Moya left Palm Bay to take on a new challenge in Suffolk County, New York, where he oversaw justice intervention initiatives and implemented the county's first Threat Assessment and Management (TAM) team. This experience further honed his skills in proactive policing and community safety.

Moya's return to Florida as Gainesville's Chief of Police is a homecoming of sorts. His deep understanding of Florida's law enforcement landscape, coupled with his experience in innovative policing strategies, makes him well-equipped to lead the Gainesville Police Department.

While Palm Bay residents may feel a sense of loss with Moya's departure, they also express immense pride in his accomplishments. He leaves behind a department that is more community-oriented, technologically advanced, and prepared to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.

Moya's appointment also highlights Palm Bay's role as a breeding ground for top-tier law enforcement talent. The city's commitment to innovation and professional development, as evidenced by its recent adoption of the Citibot AI chatbot, creates an environment where officers like Moya can thrive and grow.

As Gainesville welcomes Chief Moya, Palm Bay residents extend their congratulations and best wishes. His journey from a young patrol officer to the leader of a major police department is an inspiration to all aspiring law enforcement professionals.
