Malabar Annex Training Exercise Advisory
Malabar Annex training exercise on Sept. 26 may cause loud noises, but it is a safe routine drill for readiness.

Palm Bay, FL – The 45th Security Forces Squadron will conduct a Malabar Annex training exercise on Friday, September 26, 2025. The day-long Base Defense Field Training Exercise is part of Space Launch Delta 45’s readiness program to protect Patrick Space Force Base, Cape Canaveral, and supporting facilities.
What Residents Can Expect
The exercise will include training devices designed to simulate battlefield conditions:
Ground Burst Simulators that create sounds like small explosions.
Smoke grenades that produce temporary colored smoke clouds.
Simulated gunfire to test rapid-response readiness.
No live ammunition will be used, and all activities will be closely supervised. Residents in nearby Palm Bay neighborhoods may hear loud noises or see smoke, but officials emphasize there is no cause for concern.
Why It Matters for Residents
These drills give Space Force security units the opportunity to practice defending critical launch infrastructure on the Space Coast. With billions invested in rockets, satellites, and national defense assets, maintaining security proficiency is essential.
Routine training at the Malabar Annex helps units strengthen:
Team coordination during rapid-response scenarios.
Tactical skills for protecting high-value government facilities.
Preparedness against potential threats to launch operations.
