Palm Bay Breaks Ground on New Fire Station 7, Addressing Growing Public Safety Needs 🚒
Palm Bay, FL — The City of Palm Bay is taking a significant step towards enhancing its emergency response capabilities with the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fire Station 7. The event, scheduled for Friday, September 13th, at 9:00 AM, marks the beginning of a project aimed at meeting the increasing demands of the city's growing population.
Located at 2144 Palm Bay Road NE, Fire Station 7 will replace the former Fire Station 1, which was demolished in 2022. The new station will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, enabling firefighters to better serve the community and improve response times in the northeast quadrant of the city.
Palm Bay Fire Chief Richard Stover emphasized the importance of this new station, stating, "The opening of Fire Station 7 will significantly improve the response times for our citizens and visitors in this rapidly growing part of our city."
The construction of Fire Station 7 is part of a larger plan to address the challenges posed by Palm Bay's substantial population growth. In addition to Fire Station 7, the city has proactively addressed the immediate need for improved fire services by approving the allocation of $3.7 million for two temporary fire stations in the northwest and southeast quadrants. Furthermore, the City Council has authorized the exploration of debt service funding of up to $40 million for the construction of two permanent stations: Fire Station 8 in the northwest and Fire Station 9 in the southeast, both with integrated police substations.
Mayor Rob Medina underscored the city's commitment to public safety, stating, "This groundbreaking is a testament to our commitment to public safety and the well-being of our residents. It is more than just the start of a new building; it's the beginning of a stronger, safer future for our city."
The groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station 7 is open to the public and members of the media. It will be held at the future site of the station, located at 2144 Palm Bay Road NE. This is a great opportunity for residents to show their support for the Palm Bay Fire Department and learn more about the city's plans to enhance public safety.
