What makes me sick is “non-partisan” is very partisan. Both times an appointment was needed in one year, both have been ultra liberal. But this guy donated to a political candidate. This is the worst council I can ever remember.

I got a bill on the ballot, Amendment 1 this November to make School Board races partisan again. School boards and city council are both taxing authorities, I want to know their background. Hopefully we pass Amendment 1 this year, city elections next year. Recognizes

Mr Weinberg is a experienced and knowledgeable guy and is generally cordial. However, observing him over the years, and having a interaction with the P&Z board, my observation is generally his default position is not to come down on the side of the homeowner and private property rights. When former Councilman Baily pushed eliminating the requirement for permits for fences and sheds, Mr Weinberg was opposed. I asked for a variance to construct a garage on my property (in the backdrop of more onerous regulations on what a non HOA resident could put/park in their back yard) Mr Weinberg was opposed (although I eventually got the variance thru the council) . I'm concerned that now Mr Weinberg now has a binding vote on such variances that come before the council.

Phil Weinberg's influence on the various

boards is one of the reasons Palm Bay has such a high millage rates. We can voice our opinion at the voter polls by voting OUT Donny Felix.

The appointment of Weinberg is an unmitigated disaster. Is term on the planning and zoning board was nothing but a sellout to the builders in Palm Bay. He voted yes on almost every new housing project in Palm Bay in his term. This entire thing stinks to high hell. 6

We the voters in Palm Bay have nobody to blame but ourselves because we stupidly voted to change the charter to allow the city council to appoint a member to any open seat on the council. This followed the outrage of citizens when Mr Bailey left Palm Bay and the council wanted to fill his seat. The citizens stood up and said no and a special election was called. Unfortunately Mr filiberto, who won that election, betrayed his voters.

But to put Weinberg on the council is a smack in the face to the people of Palm Bay who want to see the growth controlled in the city.

Thank God he can only serve until the election.

I consider this. He's done no harm as a council member. He's cast no deciding votes, or proposed any policy. He has 4, maybe 5 meetings left. Ride out the storm and try not to get hit by lightening.

I have also talked with the mayor about memorializing how the person appointed is addressed. Council Members are elected. Find a more suitable title when we find ourselves in the position of having an appointee.

We did not stupidly vote to change the charter. The tabulating machine did. Mark my words.

Wrong. Uber 60% of the boats were yes for this charter Amendment. I don't think most of the people knew what they were doing to themselves.
