Thanks Tom, just some observations on the proceedings. I'm not sure what the word is that describes the pontificating that's gone on about the Compound and when the annual body count there makes the TV news, it prompts our leaders to advocate Commercial /Industrial development in the Compound as the solution. Then when a Commercial/Industrial entity is willing to locate there, we get a NIMBY response. I haven't watched the meetings, but did anyone ask if the Company was willing to run a water line out to the site? The irony here is in the same meeting a hospital expansion was approved. Obviously most of would think more hospital beds in our City is a good thing (it is). However, if I had to choose to build my house next to one of these projects, the hospital is not a no brainer. If you think of the medical &radiation waste, drug disposal (and lord knows what else ) that is processed through a typical hospital, you might think twice where you'd want to locate your home. Many localities say they want industry and the affiliated jobs. When it comes down to approvals, people suddenly decide they don't want it? In my hospital example, they might not even be making a informed decision.
