Difficulty swallowing or paralysis
Staggering or uncoordinated movement
If you encounter an animal exhibiting these signs, maintain a safe distance and immediately contact Palm Bay Animal Control at (321) 952-3456.
Protecting Yourself and Your Pets
Here are essential steps to minimize the risk of rabies exposure:
Vaccinate your pets: Ensure all dogs, cats, and ferrets are up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations. This is the single most effective way to protect them from the disease.
Supervise your pets when outdoors: Prevent them from interacting with unfamiliar animals, especially wildlife.
Avoid contact with wild animals: Never approach, feed, or handle wild animals, even if they appear friendly or injured.
Secure your garbage: Keep garbage cans tightly sealed to avoid attracting wild animals to your property.
Report animal bites: If you or your pet are bitten by any animal, wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water and seek immediate medical attention. Report the bite to Palm Bay Animal Control.
By following these guidelines and remaining vigilant, we can work together to keep our community safe from rabies.
