Freedom of speech is not measured by “efficiency,” as it is not about being perfect, therefore free speech is rough and has to be heard for truth to then have meaning. Not to encompass this concern in a big umbrella but it seems to be a concern that resides here in Florida. As it becomes less when the state degrades it legislatively. Even when it is not appropriate, it is what people think out loud. But to compel it because of Townhall administrative time constraints, this then is disrespectful to the residents that attend those meetings at the time and place that is most appropriate. Mayor Medina then cannot claim to use veteran status as a form to oblige that he serves to guard our rights, as many enter this nation for that specific reason being that where they came from, those rights are privileged and not protected. Speech is not a privilege, Mayor Medina. Just advise that then in town when spotted, be advised to receive an ear full of talk, since, for you, speech is “administrative” and not free, as inefficient as it may be for you Sir.

Ceremonial items are so important that they should be given their own time and not waste the time of people of people who are there only to discuss issues on the agenda that affect them.

People at city council meetings should not be treated as captive audiences for other things.

Welcome to the new world where anyone who has an opinion that disagrees with those in power will have their voice suppressed. Make some noise folks before it’s too late!

Thanks to THE Palm Bayer for bringing this to the forefront. A question comes to mind about why this is happening and who on the Council is behind the restriction of the citizen's ability to speak up on the issues. Shame on the Mayor and shame on the rest of the Council and City Manager for infringing on the rights of We The People of Palm Bay!

I expect nothing. Council is supposed to direct the manager. But the manager is, in my opinion directing council.

An ID to enter city hall. That’s strange. I heard for security. Umm! No. Security would be a metal detector.

Citizen cannot pull from the consent agenda. It’s goes further until we don’t speak at all.

Last council got rid of the budget advisory committee and gave themselves a raise, against our vote. I would say it’s time for the city to be investigated

The Mayor, City Attorney, City Manager, and Chief of Police have all openly lied during council meetings the last several months. Now council tried to restrict citizens from speaking or commenting as those lies are starting to be revealed!

Does that sound like transparency!! Does that sound like a city government that cares about its citizens!!! What do they have to hide by keeping ppl quiet?

Welcome to the Greatest City of the face of the earth ….. sure if you want to be lied to, scolded, shut down, and look the other way on corruption!

Anyone looking for copies of proof of the real happenings going on at the City please contact me for more information.

You are right to highlight this. Your time line shows the trend toward public input restriction. When the Council asks for our vote next election, this should be at the forefront of the discussion.
