In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, City offices are closed Monday, May 25. Waste collections by Republic Services are skipped entirely on Monday with no one-day delay.
I watched the meeting and it was horrible. I agree with the residents that a gas station should not be built there in the middle of an residential area and near a school with a lot of kids in that area. Safety apparently does not mean anything and the big trucks and traffic are going to be a real problem also. I live close to that area and thank God it is not going to be near my front yard but I sure do feel bad for the residents that it is going to affect. This should not have been approved. The mayor was the last one to vote and he could have voted a no but instead he voted yes making it a 3-2 win for the developer. This is not necessary to put a gas station there because right down the road from there, maybe a mile, there is a Circle K already built and open and a 7-Eleven being constructed so why do they think it is necessary for a residential area have to deal with this type of thing in their area. Like Mike Reitano said remember this on election day.
Planning and zoning vote 7-0 unanimously against the Gas station /connivence store with drive through the residents opposed it yet the council does what it wants disregarding the P&Z committee and residents Remember on election day
