A 1,346-acre property in SW Brevard County just filed its first environmental permit for 2,000-plus homes. The land sits outside Palm Bay’s city limits but is legally guaranteed Palm Bay utilities.
Great compilation Tom. IMO this makes recent stupid comments by a sitting council member against a certain immigrant population look pretty mundane in the big scheme of things. (at least that episode occurred in the light of day). I'm not a lawyer, but it seems like there could be obvious Sunshine law issues here (unless the office holders in the story disclosed such ex-parte communications) for starters. I seem to recall press reports at the time that implied the FBI was looking at the City government in depth. Even having a plant (the same person they used inside the City of Daytona Beach government) inside Palm Bay City Hall. Along with the Sherriff joking with then Mayor Capote that the mayor might be under surveillance. What a tale...
It’s more of the same old story here in Palm Bay. While residents look for transparency, housing developers and lobbyists still have their hooks deep into our local government. When special interests take priority over the community's needs, it’s the taxpayers who pay the price. It is time we start putting Palm Bay residents first again."
All other segments of the SJHP are 200 feet in width, yet the permit for this section is only 150 feet wide? Why is that?
Thank you for the refresher on the corruption in Palm Bay. Why were there no indictments is the question.
Seems like there could be enough skullduggery to perhaps nullify the deal made with regard to this land...something about "fraud vitiates everything".
