Interesting article, it does not address private school and charter school capacity.

When a private or charter school opens or closes, it affects the public schools in the area.

How close to capacity are the charter schools in Palm Bay?

Jonathan, you're right, and it's a bigger gap than most people realize. Charter schools in Palm Bay aren't figured into the concurrency system the same way traditional public schools are. When a charter opens inside an existing school's attendance zone, it adds traffic to corridors that were planned for one school's enrollment, not two.

I'm working on a follow-up piece that looks at exactly this, including how charter schools affect the city's infrastructure burden. Stay tuned.

Brevard Public Schools used to track [my knowledge is more than a decade old] the percentages of students that actually follow the specific Elementary to Middle to High School tracks, by grade level.
