Well, I watched this workshop and watched last week's regular Council Mtg. I think Mr Batten's comments highlighting there is a person involved here (that is being forced to make a abrupt unexpected career change going into to the holidays) should be kept in mind. She is owed a severance package (even though as a taxpayer I hate paying them). I was laid-off at this time of year once, (and I don't recommend it to others). Under the heading of "it could be worse", there is probably going to be a lot of bureaucrats in the DC Beltway area that will find themselves in the same situation next year as a result of the election. Perhaps I'm naive, but this appears to me as simply new council members clearing the decks. (albeit w/o a replacement in mind) . ( That's their purview, they put their names on the ballot and got the votes to sit in those seats.) However I don't understand why Kenny voted with them (given he's been a part of the last 2 Councils, I don't recall him giving any negative feedback on Suzanne. ) [At least with the previous City Mgr, the then Mayor made some negative public comments about her, thus it wasn't a complete surprise when she was dismissed] Perhaps Kenny foresees a big "pressure wash" coming to City Government and he wants to be on the right side of it. I found it interesting to see the Mayor's reaction last Thursday. From my vantage point, I read the look on his face as 'who's going to make the trains run on time' within the City bureaucracy. Ask yourself if you are a assistant City Mgr in South Florida and this job was offered to you at a higher salary would you take it and relocate? Thats the task our Council has before it. For our sake, I wish them luck.

Karen, I appreciate your comment and the questions you’ve raised. To provide some clarity, I left the city because of the leadership and a working environment that I found unacceptable. As a whistleblower, I brought forward issues that I believed needed to be addressed, but like others in similar positions, I felt those concerns fell on deaf ears. Bad people were allowed to do bad things for far too long.

Remaining in that environment would have compromised my values and my ability to serve the city with integrity. While it’s not an easy decision to leave, I felt it was necessary given the circumstances. Thank you for taking the time to bring attention to thisβ€”I believe transparency and accountability are crucial for our city’s future.

But you were tied Holton pizza pizza along with land development on the Northern end of Parkway.

Tied? They stole millions of dollars worth of land from my family. I wouldn’t call that tied. And I have no clue what pizza pizza is, I was a maintenance worker that cleaned culvert pipes when Tres was at the city. Not sure how that β€œties” me..

Pizza pizza stormwater fees from Tres. We do not need him back for sure or the whole clan at that.

I believe Ms Smith is incorrect on the Sunshine Law. I thought of her statement as a cya.

Mayor Medina was wrong to interject while citizens spoke. I get he’s tired of the former deputy talking negatively about the current chief. However, has anyone really looked?

Was he treated poorly by the CM , as a whistleblower? Other former employees have said as whistleblowers their issues fell on deaf ears.

We have a newly elected person in council, who’s a former city employee. My question is why is he a former employee

I agreed with the former commissioner up until she took a political shot. We elected them in a non partisan race.
