Interactive AI Version of This Story: Available here
On December 23, 2023, Marissa Garcia, a 25-year-old mother of four, disappeared under suspicious circumstances from Palm Bay. Her case has since gripped the community and drawn comparisons to other unresolved disappearances in the area, such as the enduring mystery of Brandy Hall, a 17-year-old case that remains unsolved.
The Day She Vanished
Marissa Garcia was last seen on December 23, 2023, being dropped off at the Pines Apartments in Palm Bay by a driver. A female acquaintance was waiting for her at the location. Described as having red hair, blue eyes, and a tattoo of the word "Rainey" near her collarbone, Marissa was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt when she disappeared. We wrote about Marissa’s disappearance at the time.
She had $1,700 in her Cash App account, which was later found emptied, and her phone was discovered with another female at the apartment complex. Marissa's sudden disappearance has left her family and friends deeply concerned, especially given her close relationship with her mother, with whom she maintained daily contact.
Legal Troubles Before Disappearance
Marissa had faced several legal challenges before her disappearance. In late 2023, she was arrested for robbery and grand theft auto. She posted a $5,000 bond and had a court appearance scheduled for December 19, which was canceled due to undeliverable mail. Additionally, she was pulled over for driving without a license the day before she went missing.
The Investigation
The Palm Bay Police Department has classified Marissa's disappearance as suspicious and launched a comprehensive investigation. They received the missing person report on January 5, 2024, and have since urged the public to provide any information that might help locate her. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for tips leading to her discovery.
Despite several reported sightings, including one where Marissa was allegedly seen panhandling off an exit on I-95, none have been confirmed. The police continue to search various locations, including woods, lakes, and abandoned vehicles.
Family and Community Efforts
Marissa's family has been actively involved in the search, stressing that her disappearance is out of character. They have emphasized that Marissa would never willingly cut off contact with her children and mother. Marissa had plans to move closer to her mother for a fresh start, which further deepens the family's concern about her sudden disappearance.

@Angel I would like to know why you wrote this comment on Marissa’s birthday?
I dedicate my sobriety to my missing Sister Marissa Garcia. She went missing on 12/23/23 and I was arrested for a VOP on January 9, 2024. I never got to really look into her disappearance. I did an attempt but it was a addicts attempt. My sister and I used together the last time I seen her. And our last conversation we had before she left that night was about her kids and how she wanted both of us to go to rehab. I was sentenced on 4/09/24 to 18 months in FLDOC. I am currently in work release. I have a job where my boss has been in NA for 30 years! I had another opportunity to work at IHOP but I was sent home for now having the right shoes. Long story short my current boss called me and asked if I could come in the next day at 7 am and I’ve been there ever since. I prayed for this sign from my higher power. My mom had asked me if working a server job would be a trigger and that thought wouldn’t leave my mind. I work in a warehouse sorting tile and carpets, organizing shipments, and driving forklifts. I’m around sober people and people who understand where I am and where I need to be. My dedication to my sister is that if/when I see her again or if she’s looking down at me that she sees me doing what she asked of me during our last conversation. Being the best mom, aunt, and sister I can be for me and our family. Thanks for reading. One day at a time! We got this!🔷🤟🏼💪🏼💯
